Bluesky Aligns with Competitors' Video Features

With the new three-minute video limit, Bluesky is bringing its video capabilities more in line with its competitors, X (formerly Twitter) and Meta’s Threads. X allows non-paying users to upload videos up to 2 minutes and 20 seconds, while Threads supports videos up to five minutes long.

Boost for TikTok-like Apps on Bluesky

This change is also a positive development for apps like Bluescreen and Skylight, which are trying to bring a TikTok-like experience to Bluesky. These apps are working to create a video-first experience on the platform or new apps built using the same AT Protocol. With the expanded video length, they can offer content that aligns more with TikTok, where users can upload videos up to 10 minutes long.

New "Chat Requests" Feature for Direct Messages

Bluesky has added a new “Chat requests” screen that lets users manage direct messages (DMs) from unknown users. When someone sends a DM, users can choose to accept or reject the conversation through this new feature, giving them more control over their messages.

Improved Features for Muting and Reporting

Bluesky has also made it easier to mute accounts. Users can now mute an account by clicking the three-dot menu on a post and selecting the “Mute account” option. Additionally, the platform has improved the layout for tablet users on the web and made changes to the moderation reporting process, aiming to make it more efficient and user-friendly.
